Behcets Syndrome Society Medical Advisory Panel
Introducing our Medical Advisory Panel
Following meetings with members of the Behçet’s Forum, the trustees of the BSS decided that the optimal way forward was to have a Medical Advisory Panel who can provide professional advice to the Committee.
The remit of the panel will develop over time, but a terms of reference has been established which is similar to ones used by other charities that support people with medical conditions. In brief, the main four main duties are:
- To advise the Society on all matters concerning the health of, and medical services for, people with Behçet’s syndrome
- To recommend appropriate policies and statements relating to governmental or professional policy on medical and health services for people with Behçet’s syndrome
- To give guidance to staff and members (initially through the staff) on obtaining appropriate medical provision and health services
- To consider medical research grant applications and make recommendations on suitable projects for the Society to support.
The panel will also be consulted in any media work that requires a professional opinion, and such a high-powered panel will add further credibility to the Society for its future grant applications.
Dr Colin Barnes has accepted the post of Chairman of the Medical Advisory Panel, and his help and advice have been invaluable in establishing this group. Click on the names below to read introductions to the Panel members.
